How it processes information

Overview

  1. 01

Takes in current sensory information and observable facts.

  2. 02

Identify opportunities, risks and actionable conditions.

Take action and continue to adjust based on immediate feedback.

Subjective experience

Se · Extraverted Sensing

Changes in the immediate environment may come into focus quickly.

Hands-on experience, direct interaction, and immediate feedback can support learning.

While others are still discussing, you may have seen the resources available in front of you.

Same function, different types

Se · Across different types

For an ESTP, Se is often calibrated by Ti, which looks for the most effective mechanism in the situation.

For an ESFP, Se is often calibrated by Fi, which checks an immediate option against personal values.

Overuse

Interpersonal Challenges

  • Respond only to the strongest immediate stimulus, ignoring cumulative consequences.
  • Use non-stop action to avoid problems that require slowing down to understand.

When imbalanced, one may seek excessive stimulation, act impulsively, or become preoccupied with specific immediate details.

Practice

Growth Suggestions

  1. Ask about the cost of delay before taking action.
  2. Schedule a low-stimulation review after an intense period.
  3. Put field observations and long-term goals on the same note.
